In Kinship with Nature

”In Kinship with Nature” (2025) 6’ x 8’ acrylic painting on canvas

My deep love of nature inspires this artwork and serves as a tribute to my ancestors. The flowers—native to Washington—are intentionally chosen for their cultural and ecological symbolism. The hummingbird represents the presence and guidance of my ancestors, reminding me that love endures across generations.

Commissioned by the Satterberg Foundation for the Metropole building in downtown Seattle, In Kinship with Nature centers on a pair of hands gently holding a heart-shaped seedling, symbolizing the sacred relationship between land and people. This piece reflects the belief that the earth is not merely a resource, but a living relative deserving of care and respect. Through this work, I honor Indigenous teachings and the values of environmental stewardship, love, and collective community care.
